The Mahi Project
Conceptualised through the World Food Forum Youth Assembly and led by Alina Mubashir, Mahi is a youth-led ocean literacy initiative working with coastal communities in Karachi, Pakistan, to turn environmental education into impact—linking ocean science, sustainability, and climate awareness through lived, local learning.
"When we draw the sea, we remember stories our elders tell us. I named my boat after my granddad.”
“We love our land, its river that flows into the sea, the mountains that surround it, and we would want to populate it more with plants, not trash.”
Through education, workshops, and coastal eco-activities, we work alongside communities to co-create ocean literacy tools—empowering youth and women and supporting sustainable fishing and climate resilience.
Children’s voices lead the protection of their sea and their future.
